Have you ever been experienced?
It seems so obvious it’s almost not worth writing, but just in case you were thinking customer service has no impact on your institution’s bottom line…a recent Forrester Research report finds that the link between customer loyalty and customer experience is closer than ever before. What does this mean? It means that all things being equal (similar product, similar price, etc.) consumers will opt for the brand that delivers the best customer experience.

Smart Books
I’ve rarely spent more money in one day than I did when it came time to buy my books for school each semester. An $800 transaction, twice a year wasn’t unusual. Many of my friends spent even more. So I read this Campus Technology article on textbooks and Web 2.0 with great interest: a few textbook companies with radically different business models than traditional publishers are trying to make books more affordable and communal.

Privacy and Web 2.0
Earlier this week, the blogs, Facebook and even the Washington Post and New York Times were up in arms over the news of changes in Facebook’s terms of service. The blog, The Consumerist, broke the story: Facebook changed the language of their terms of service to reflect the fact that the company may still archive material that you post, even after you delete your account. The blog took this to mean that Facebook would now “own” anything you post on the site. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s creator, tried to quickly quell the controversy by posting a blog telling Facebookers that their information is safe, and the change in terms of service was only meant to reflect what was going on already- that is, any material you post may still live on Facebook even if you delete your account.

Mythbusters (Part IV of IV)
Back in December, the blog TrendsSpotting collected predictions for social media in 2009. Some of the experts predicted a shift from emphasis in quantity of friends, towards an emphasis on quality. In other words, 2009 would be the year of “defriending.” Almost on cue, Burger King launched a campaign called the Whopper Sacrifice. By downloading a Burger King application onto your Facebook account and defriending 10 people, you’d be able to print out a coupon for a free Whopper.

Personalization
Since the inception of Intelliworks CRM, User Experience has always been at the center of focus. How we represent forward thinking user experience in the application is to provide personalization features.
