I noticed this poll today on CampusTechnology.com which asks if colleges and universities are using social networking sites for recruitment. So far, it looks like the majority of institutions have not explored this medium with 60% of respondents saying their school does not use social networking for recruitment. Are schools missing the boat?
As this recent Techcrunch article points out, 85% of college students use Facebook, and we wrote recently about the fact that 13-17 year olds are one of the fastest growing demographics on Facebook. If those numbers aren’t enough to convince you that your institution should start thinking about using social networks in recruitment…perhaps the recent Class of 2013 scare will have more and more institutions looking into this.
On a related note, our own survey looking at what tools higher education marketing and recruitment professionals are using (including social media) is still open, so please take a few minutes to check it out. View the survey here.
